Battery systems, such as those used in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), are critical components in applications where minimizing the risk of failure and ensuring smooth operation—such as in medical facilities and data centers—is paramount.

The METRACELL BT Pro is a versatile, portable, and multifunctional testing instrument designed for evaluating and maintaining battery systems and uninterruptible power supplies, primarily those based on lead-acid batteries.

Lead-acid batteries account for over 75% of all rechargeable energy storage devices in use today. In situations requiring large-capacity energy storage, multiple individual cell modules are often connected in series. However, because these modules are connected in series, a defective module with excessively high internal resistance can increase the charging voltage applied to adjacent modules, thereby shortening the lifespan of the entire battery string.

The METRACELL BT Pro is capable of recording voltage (up to 24 V DC for individual cell modules) as well as the electrical and electrochemical resistance of cell modules, serving as reference measurements during initial commissioning and periodic testing. Additionally, it can measure total voltages of up to 600 V DC and perform interval recordings [measurements of voltage and current]—for example, during discharge.

The instrument can store up to 300,000 data records, which can be managed using the included battery management software and exported in report format.

Battery temperature and acid density can also be measured with the help of optional sensor accessories.
